A Strong Children’s Ministry is very important to a growing church and so we take great care in making sure that ours is well staffed and planned. We offer many different opportunities for the children to get involved and to both minister and be ministered to.
Children’s Worship: – This is a time of Bible teaching, snacks, and crafts, and games during our 10:30 a.m. service each Sunday for ages 3 up through the 5th grade. The 3-year-olds through the Kindergarteners meet together in one class and then the 1st through 5th graders meet in another class. The kids will enjoy a time of reading and learning about different Bible characters and how they served God and how they can be an example to us of how we should serve God, as well as fellowship with other children their age.
Kingdom Kids: – This ministry has just begun here at SCBC on Sunday nights from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to come and enjoy the adult Bible study upstairs while the kids (age 3 through 5th grade) spend time learning about Jesus and how He wants us to live. We have a time of snack and a craft to do as well. This also serves as the time to practice for our annual Children’s Christmas and Easter programs.
Awana Ministry: – The Awana program has been an important and effective part of our church ministry for many years. We believe that genuine exposure to the Word of God in a child’s life will have a lasting effect, and this is exactly why we put so much effort into making sure that the Awana program has what it needs. Awana meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 8:15 p.m during the school year. For more information, please check out our Awana page by clicking here.
Children’s Chimes Choir: – This is a time for our children to practice their ringing skills. Our chimes choir director Marian Hoffman will teach your children about how to hold the chimes and how to make them ring and then will begin teaching them simple songs that they will play for the congregation. They practice on Sunday evenings from 5:30 – 6:15 p.m.
Praise Dance Team: – We practice weekly during the school year on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 in the sanctuary to learn dances to help lead worship a few times during the year. This is for girls who are in 3rd grade up to adults. During the Christmas season, we visit area care centers with a dance and sing carols with them. Why we have a praise dance team: Clearly, God calls His children to worship Him, and from that worship, there should be an outward expression of love for Him that comes from participation of all one’s heart, soul and mind and strength because He is worthy to be praised! From this expression of worship that God commands and still desires for His people, dance has a significant place in worship of Him. The full description of ‘heart, soul and mind and strength’ reveals a wholeness of intent for genuine worship of God, which has been lost in our present age. Jesus also commands the Church to “go into all the world and preach the good news”, as is the great commission. Christians are called to reach a generation that are not interested in religion but instead in real, honest, genuine people living their lives for something more than what the world has to offer. They long for hope in a hopeless world. Using dance and portraying the realities of our sin, the cost of the cross, and introducing the Man that saved the human race from it, allows them to hear the gospel. It speaks their language, and they want to listen, when before, most would walk away from the idea of a religious talk.
Infant & Toddler Nursery: – We have many volunteers that are just waiting to care for your infants and toddlers while you enjoy the services. We offer a clean fun environment for your child where they will be loved and cherished and will see a godly example. We offer nursery care during both 8:00 & 10:30 a.m. services, as well as during our Sunday School hour.
